Story Stock Exchange bulks up portfolio

Boulder’s Story Stock Exchange has been busy since we last wrote about the company in April.

The seed capital investment firm/business incubator that was launched following the passage this spring of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act has since built its startup portfolio to include more than a half-dozen firms and has provided seven investment installments, officials say. More investments are on the way, says Michael Abdy, SSX’s president and chief operating officer:

“SSX expects to finish the year with approximately a dozen companies in its portfolio like PrescribeWellness, the Funding Launchpad crowdfunding platform, and others, all supported by a small group of founding shareholders – accredited investors directly involved in operational and capital management for the clients and the fund itself.”

Among the investments was one in Boulder’s Inspire Commerce, the financial transaction company that this week landed $500,000 to launch an online payments technology.

Inspire Commerce is one of seven firms in SSX’s portfolio. The others are Rock City Club, Funding Launchpad, Prescribe Wellness, Choke Grip, and Doodley , officials said.
