Boulder’s musical VCs

When some of the co-founders of Boulder’s The Foundry Group are not funding startups — and, most recently, leading a $7 million round for FullContact — they’ve quietly built a band and cut a record.

Foundry’s Ryan McIntyre and Jason Mendelson launched Legitimate Front, an outfit that plays original songs inspired by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Steely Dan and Led Zeppelin.

We’ll have more on the band in the coming weeks in our features section in advance of an Aug. 25 show and record release party at the Fox Theatre.

In the meantime, here’s a somewhat unrelated video that involves Mendelson and the Foundry crew mugging it up for the release of “Venture Deals: Be Smarter Than Your Lawyer and Your Venture Capitalist.” The Andy Samberg-esque “I’m a VC” went viral last summer.
