Simple Energy, TechStars alumnus, hires COO

Boulder-based Simple Energy, a developer of software applications for the energy industry, named Bud Vos as its chief operation officer, company officials announced on Monday.

Vos, who most recently served as an executive with energy management services firm Comverge, was hired to help Simple Energy gain a greater foothold in the energy sector, officials said. Simple Energy has developed a variety of programs and game-type applications designed to connect utilities with their customers and also to help those customers save energy.

Vos joined Comverge in 2003 as the result of the Georgia-based Comverge’s acquisition of Sixth Dimension Inc., a company he co-founded. Sixth Dimension developed software that provided services such as facilities metering, maintenance and real-time monitoring.

“With experience in innovation and company strategy, executive sales, system architectures, and partnership building, Bud brings an incredible combination of expertise to the role of chief operating officer,” Yoav Lurie, Simple Energy’s chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Simple Energy, a participant in the Boulder TechStars startup accelerator program, raised $900,000 last year to further develop its social networking game that is designed to help people reduce their energy usage.
