Brewing up startups

acbwbeerBoulder Startup Week starts today, but this week also carries some significance for another booming sector in Boulder: the craft brewing industry.

Breweries across the United States are hosting events in conjunction with American Craft Beer Week, which was developed by the Boulder-based Brewers Association to provide “a platform for small and independent craft brewers to salute supporters and connect with their local communities.”

What does “The Mother of All Beer Weeks” have to do with Launch Boulder?

As the craft beer industry continues to grow, it has spawned a number of startups — 900-plus breweries are in the planning stages and nearly 15 of those are in Boulder and Broomfield counties.

The industry also has created new markets for established businesses such as Wild Goose Engineering, a 15-year-old manufacturing firm in Boulder, which we wrote about today.
